Xin chào, I am Becky Lu and I’m a British Vietnamese Chinese multidisciplinary artist currently based in Saigon, Vietnam.
I graduated with a BA Hons in Textiles for Fashion in 2010 and have worked as a freelance designer for printed textiles, Illustration and as a technical tutor at the University of Brighton, where for six years I specialised in teaching traditional screen-printing and textiles dyeing.
In 2019, I completed my Masters in Digital Media Arts at UoB and was awarded with a high distinction. During my time on the course, I explored visual storytelling that was cross-specialism in both technique and aesthetic.
With a focus on creating immersive design and narrative, I have applied digital technologies to my practice to continually evolve my ideas. My work and research continually explores themes of creative identity, Vietnamese Chinese communities, liminal spaces and growing up with dual cultures and mixed heritage.
At present, I am working as an Associate Lecturer for Design Studies at RMIT University Vietnam, where I teach across disciplines, including user experience design, illustration, community and cultural research and as a supervisor for final major project.
